What is Benzaclin?
Benzaclin is an antibacterial and antibiotic topical gel applied to the skin to treat the symptoms of acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris is a long term skin condition where the hair follicles in the skin are clogged by dead skin cells and oil, causing acne. Benzaclin contains benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin, and is usually applied twice a day in the morning and evening.
How does Benzaclin work?
Benzaclin works due to its combination of active ingredients, benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin. The benzoyl peroxide has an antibacterial effect, drying the skin to allow oil and dirt to be removed. Meanwhile, clindamycin’s antibiotic properties prevent new bacteria from growing on the skin. It may take several weeks of using Benzaclin to see symptoms improve.
