What is Clindoxyl?
Clindoxyl is a prescription topical gel application which contains a combination of benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin. It is prescribed for the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris characterized by comedones, papules, and pustules. Clindoxyl is not an effective treatment for cystic acne. It should be applied directly to the affected areas once daily for two to five weeks as directed.
How does Clindoxyl work?
Clindoxyl works by slowing, stopping, and killing the bacteria that causes acne to keep pores clean. Clindoxyl contains the active ingredients clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide. Clindamycin is an antibiotic which fights bacteria in the skin, while benzoyl peroxide has antibacterial effects and anti-inflammatory properties, which cause the skin cells to peel.
