Finacea is a prescription treatment for rosacea, a type of acne found in adults. Finacea is also known as azelaic acid. A Finacea prescription comes in a topical gel form and is part of a group of medications known as antirosacea agents. Over time, Finacea can decrease whiteheads and blackheads from forming.
How does Finacea work?
A Finacea prescription treats rosacea and acne by killing the bacteria that cause inflammation, redness, and swelling, and decreasing the production of keratin, which can cause acne. It may take between 4 to 8 weeks to see results with Finacea. It’s recommended to use Finacea twice daily for best results.
