What is Clindamycin?
Clindamycin is an antibiotic solution which is used to treat specific serious bacterial infections in the body. It comes in both capsule and liquid form, and is usually taken three to four times a day around the same time every day. The length of treatment will depend on the type of infection Clindamycin is being used to treat as well as how you respond to the antibiotic.
How does Clindamycin work?
As a lincomycin antibiotic, Clindamycin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial protein, thus slowing or stopping the growth of bacteria in the body. Clindamycin is effective at treating certain types of bacterial infections, including those affecting the lungs, skin, blood, female reproductive organs, and other internal organs. Clindamycin’s bacteriostatic effect stops bacteria from reproducing, but doesn’t necessarily kill bacteria.
